Life Is Not A Dress Rehearsal, Girl!

I have this friend who often said, “Life is not a dress rehearsal, girl!” In a motivating strong and friendly way. What it means is to live each day to the fullest.  We all hear it and know it, but hearing it from his perspective and story gives it the incentive to really do it.  His story is like none other.  The kind you hear in movies.  You see he was a real life prisoner in another country for five years.  He had limited food, shelter, contact with people, and was even chained to a tree.  From that perspective of life, you can only imagine your mindset once you are FREE.  I believe we meet people for a reason.  He helped me see how we all should live life to the fullest.  Everyday dreamful living!

There are little ways to incorporate this into our everyday life.  Tell someone how they make you feel. Kiss your child’s soft face and tell them they mean the world to you. (No matter what their age.)  Wear the fancy dress! Use the good dishes. Take steps toward that dream trip. Do those things that energize you and that energy will carry to the next person you encounter. Give someone one flower just because.  Text a sweet thought. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new.  Soak up that feeling in your go-to escape place. Push your body in ways you haven’t before.

You can’t practice and rehearse your life until everything is just perfect.  You just have to get up and try different things, open new doors, appreciate what you have and go after your dreams and goals.

What does the statement “Life is not a Dress Rehearsal” make you want to do?

  1. Hello! My name is Alex and I stumbled upon your site while doing a quick Google search. Before I get into this, I would like to complement your site on the theme that is currently has, simple yet stylish. Back on topic, I really love the posts and the quality of them, most of the sites that write about the same things that you do are very repetitive and boring. I enjoy reading your posts, keep it up. Guess that’s all I’ll be posting, also, feel free to check out my sons site if you have time (I’m still working on mine, not the smartest in tech haha :P) free dj software or if that doesn’t show up, http://free-dj-software.blogspot.com Keep on blogging! -Alex S.
